Are you Flexible? Metabolically Flexible?

I have been writing and podcasting lately about Metabolic Efficiency- our ability to be fat burning machines instead of sugar burners.  We are designed to burn fat at rest and low-level intensity of exercise (another topic)- but instead, our political nutrition and marketing campaigns steered us wrong over the decades to become afraid of eating healthy natural fats and overload on carbohydrates because they were thought to be “healthy” and lower calories.  Little did we know we were creating metabolic chaos as Reed Davis describes in his FDN Practitioner program.

As a nutritional therapy practitioner, we focus on teaching our clients what to eat but also how to eat to improve digestion, blood sugar regulation, essential fatty acid balance, mineral balance and hydration.  In return, our body will be reset into homeostasis (ideally) with the right individualized plan and supplements, then improve our hormone balance, stress response system (HPA Axis), immune system and detoxification system.

Our body is unique as we have different habits, lifestyle routines, sleep patterns, work schedule stressors, gut biome and genetics.  Most of us have digestion dysfunction and chronic stressors leading to a domino effect of health imbalances and internal dysfunction.

We can identify the causes of our health concerns and symptoms with a Nutritional Assessment and Functional Evaluation but also by measuring our blood sugar and/or ketones. If we are not able to balance our blood sugar, we are probably eating the incorrect balance for our metabolic type of macronutrients (Carbs, Fats and Proteins) and/or having digestion dysfunction and/or chronic stress disease!  I will write and podcast more on the combination of chronic stressors (internal and external stress load) and the resiliency systems – impacting our source of energy…the mighty mitochondria!
Most diseases can be prevented… if we eat right for our type to be fat burners and get off the blood sugar roller coaster,  be kind to our microbiome and manage our stress to not impact our mitochondria.  Insulin Resistance is preventable as is the next phase Type II Diabetes!
In The WHOLESTIC Method coaching program, I can teach you how to become a fat burner and depend on the fat stores for your primary source of energy but create METABOLIC FLEXIBILITY to be able to switch to the carb/sugar/glucose/glycogen fuel tank when needed based on demand.  to measure your fat burning ability at rest as well as your peak fat burning heart rate and metabolic crossover point.  The RER is the respiratory exchange ratio where we can measure the type and amount of fuel you are using at rest and during exercise.  We determine the metabolic crossover point where you switch from fat fuel to sugar fuel the implement the data into your THE WHOLESTIC METHOD coaching program to transform the WHOLE you from the inside out.  Add genetics, lifestyle habits and food plan along with supplements if needed to really get results and achieve your goals.
Metabolic testing can be done at rest and during exercise to determine your individual metabolic efficiency and flexibility.  PNOE is a type of portable metabolic test you can get conducted anywhere.

I look forward to chatting with you soon!
