How is your QUALITY of SLEEP?

Doc Parsley and Alan Hopkins ran a webinar on sleep, stress and the immune system. Here are my notes.
Homeostasis… The Goldilocks Effect:
How is your Cortisol vs. DHEA balance?
How is your Cortisol vs. Melatonin?
How is your circadian rhythm?

While you are deep sleep… the best you can do to improve your immune system is to get your quality deep sleep!
Lower cortisol during the day… battling with stress.
Nourish your body- your cells to prepare for the next day while you SLEEP.
Repair yourself from the yesterday…get faster, stronger and smarter.
The next day you should wake up stronger IF you had deep quality sleep.
If you wake up exhausted… catabolic… used up cortisol … compensating.

The higher stress level- the worse your pre-front cortex and less able to make decisions and decrease fear!
Remember that all of your appetite regulation is done while you sleep… wake up with high cortisol – more impulsive, appetite regulation gone, tired, crave sugar, brain fog and can’t think clearly! We make poor decisions including eating crappy food! The “lizard brain”… we are “starving” because we are starving due to lack of sleep so you wake up being impulsive.

Poor decision making and willpower plus over all higher stress… when we don’t sleep right.
Is stress keeping you awake?
Blocking histamine isn’t normal.
Alcohol wipes out DEEP sleep. Medications for sleep also wipe out REM sleep and deep sleep.
Are you drinking alcohol at night …and taking sleep medications?
Stage Two sleep – no restoration function in just this sleep which will contribute to cognitive, physical and mental problems. You can fix this!?
Melatonin – modulating immune system while you sleep… do you have enough natural production?

Too high of dosage too frequently = down regulate natural production and receptors.
Sleep supplements should have small amount and all the substrates for your brain to produce melatonin on its own… not depend on supplements.
SLEEP should be your priority apart of your newly upgraded immune building resiliency plan. Not just going to be…but what you do before bed to set yourself up for a quality deep sleep to restore, repair and rebuild your cells to improve your resiliency.
