Are you addicted to being busy?

Are you stuck in overdrive- living life as a race?

For most of my life I have been “racing” through the day from the day I woke up, until I hit the pillow at night.  Now that I have time to stop and reflect on my busy life, thanks to CV in 2020, I realize that I have always been a busy, driven over achiever.

During college, I was working part time as the Residence Fitness & Wellness Center Coordinator while full time student and being socially active!

After college, I started working at a small YMCA as the Health/Fitness Director while driving 45-minutes away to go take Aerobic Instructor training each night.

My next job was working full time plus at a high end private athletic health club as the top personal trainer while I was assistant fitness manager plus teach spin classes, Pilates Mat class, yoga and leading group weight loss programs and seminars.

Then I was so ambitious, I opened up my own small fitness studio in 2009 to train my clients (1-3 clients shared training session) and to offer small circuit training style workouts plus triathlon, run and fat loss programs…until a much larger space opened up in the same building (3350 square feet).  In 2010, until 2019, I operated Fitness Forward Studio to offer the unique group fitness and wellness “all in one” boutique studio.  We were the first to offer group TRX circuit training in the area plus personal training, seminars, triathlon training, run group workouts, health fairs, infrared sauna, nutritional therapy, acupuncture, massage and injury treatment.  We had it all… we even sold nutritional supplements, probiotics and bone broth!  Guess who was teaching, management, organizing, marketing and promoting all of it?  ME!

I was not only running my own small business with extremely high overhead (downtown Bellevue, WA) but I was also training and competing as a top age group triathlete in Ironman Triathlons plus long distance running and cycling events.  I was a slightly overly ambitious, driven, high performing individual.

What happened in 2013?

History…and I shared my personal story/journey in my book LIFE IS NOT A RACE and created THE WHOLESTIC METHOD MANUAL & WORKBOOK (Available on Amazon) to help others avoid going through what happened to me since 2013.

Note – I continued to do “too much” and obviously “Addicted to busy-ness” as I wrote my book in 2014 and my manual in 2015 then became a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2017, Kion Coach in 2018 and then finally a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner in 2019.  I always love to keep busy training, learning and growing…transforming the WHOLE me!

I didn’t know how addicted to BUSY I was until this summer, as we all were forced to slow down and stay home!

What have you learned about yourself this year… the year of 2020 that will be forever a part of history?

My journey is not all bad – especially the positive improvements that I made in the summer of 2020 as we moved from Bellevue, WA to an amazing “Hilltop” home in North San Diego where I spend most of my days outside working, playing and training! Plus, I became a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP), Kion Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P) to finally follow my purpose and passion on coaching other ambitious individuals to get their body and vibrant self-back again.
