Today Jimmy Moore is on the show to talk to Debbie about how to use good fats, and the importance of eliminating the abundance of carbohydrates in our diet. Jimmy lost 180 pounds and his approaches to diet have been called “radical” though he points out that his diet before was just as radical in the other direction.
Jimmy talks about the benefits of eating good fat and other aspects of diet, including a discussion what seems to be a common misconception that the American food system is the best in the world. Jimmy has just returned from Europe and particularly extols the virtues of something called “double cream.” This is a delicious, thick dairy product that puts all other attempts at creaminess to shame.
They also talk about fasting, and the value of different types of fasting, including alternate day fasting, and intermittent fasting. Jimmy also talks about his experiences with prolonged fasting.
He describes the importance of recognizing that Type 2 diabetes needs to be recognized as carb intolerance. He questions the value of giving people drugs before there has been any attempt to modify diet which is the root of the problem. In his words, insulin has definitely been a help to Type 1 sufferers, but for Type 2 patients, has simply become a way to cover over the bad dietary choices that are almost required by common misconceptions about nutrition, which generally include a large number of carbs.
The video about canola oil that he talks about is here: https://youtu.be/omjWmLG0EAs. Even though it’s completely pro-canola, it can’t help but educate people about how the oil is actually made.
Jimmy and co-author Maria Emmerich have a new cookbook out so for the Christmas season you can easily enjoy creative, low-carb recipes and goodies. Jimmy is also the author of two more books about low-carbs and cholesterol with Dr. Eric Westman, Keto Clarity and Cholesterol Clarity.
