Life is a journey… I learned that the hard way.
How do you celebrate the start of your last year in your first half of your life? Celebrate the wins and learn from the losses. Life is a Journey.
Today is my the first day of my last year of my 40’s… as I some how turn 39- or rather 49 years old.
Where do the years go?
My past life was focused on athletic performance gains and being always the best at everything I did in life and work.
My current life is all about finding the joy and gift in each day…living in the present. My focus in about how to improve and transform me to be the best version of myself right now -then take those gifts from experiences that are not to great and focus on how to grow into a better person- my future self.
My goal now is to continue to improve my performance (in life and sports) and longevity.
A gift from Covid, in an odd way, was the ability to work remote. Both my husband Neal and I had the opportunity to move from Bellevue, WA (where I have lived since 1983!) to Northern San Deigo near Escondido, CA this past summer. We know the politics are crazy everywhere and the taxes are high- but we moved for QUALITY OF LIFE and outdoor living all year long!
Now we are just finally getting settled into our new home and new routine in a new town. We love the outdoor living space and mulitple places to train outside- to the ocean or to the mountains. Even though I miss seeing all of my clients live and my friends, as we all do this year, but I am appreciating this new pace of life!
Honestly, I have never started my job around 8am or somedays 9am in my entire life. I thought I changed my training and work schedule starting in 2013…I guess I didn’t do it enough as I continued to wake up early and have a full schedule most of the day. Maybe I was training less and working less but I was doing “something” all of the time! Now I don’t have to rush out the door at 5AM and drive in traffic heading to the gym, fitness studio or to meet a client. Life is easier now- perhaps a little different and sometimes lonely but we are all trying to make the best of these changes.
Positive attitude-positive energy-positive vibes!
I had my life change, from what I knew it to be the first time, in 2013 and since then I have been on a mission to transfrom my life with elements as I term “The WHOLESTIC Method” as well as continuing my education as a functional health practitioner.
My past experiences have shaped my future self as I learned the hard way about “living life as a race” and what happens when you are TOO AMBITIOUS and TOO DRIVEN in life!
Anything too much in life can lead to dysfunction or imbalances as well as anything too little can lead to deficiencies and imbalances = METABOLIC CHAOS is the end result for most of us.
One of my major lessons gained over the past ten years…
The Goldilocks Effect.
Who I am today is much different than who I was 8 plus years ago. For almost twenty years, my life revolved around training and racing endurance events as a top age group female athlete as well as training clinets and operating my own fitness studio (10 plus years!).

What do you experience on almost mid-point of living life?
How do you celebrate the start of a new year?
Do you take time to set intentions for the birth year ahead?
Deep real thoughts with Debbie Potts…coming soon
Until then I am following my purpose and passion based on my “previous self” and working on building my “future self” as “The WHOLESTIC Method” health coach expert!
I help driven and ambitious high-performing individuals, who are struggling to get results by doing all the right things, get their body and vibrant self back again by investigating what is actually going on inside – running well chosen functional lab tests and putting their missing pieces of their mysterious health puzzle back together. Using nutritional therapy and lifestyle improvements to repair, rebuild and restore the WHOLE individual from the inside out back to optimal performing levels.

Move better. Look better. Perform Better.
Performance and Longevity
Life is not a race. It is a journey. Eight years ago I was running the same route I did a few weeks ago at very different place in my life. Torrey Pines to La Jolla. In February 2013, this same course was my last long run felt strong, fast and energetic.
Since then running has been a struggle as my body we came broken and burned out from my way of living my life. Perhaps it is a combination of imbalances that had occured in my body due to sources of chronic stress or the accumulation leading to METABOLIC CHAOS.
Functional lab testing and correlation in my own personal health investigation had revealed clues to my disfunction, imbalances and loss of balance or HOMEOSTASIS…
- Low hormones
- Pathogens
- Bacteria Overgrowth
- Candida Overgrowth
- Mold Toxicity
- Mitochondria Dysfunction
- Microbiome Dysbiosis
- Low levels or undetected levels of key bacteria strains
- Low production of Butyrate
- Food sensitivities
- Leaky Gut
- Low levels of neurotransmitter production
Now my purpose, mission and goal is to help you avoid going through what I had happened to me starting in March 2013. Don’t avoid those RED FLAGS your body is sending you and warning you to SLOW DOWN, push the PAUSE button and RESET or RECALIBRATE your body as you would your computer!
You don’t know what are the hidden internal sources of CHRONIC stress that are contributing to your unexplained health symptoms. Your doctor will probably say your lab results are normal and your health complaints are just a part of aging (my pet peeve).
These new unexplained health complaints are not your new normal and we can restore function and balance in your body…The GOLDILOCKS Effect is an essential part of every body system function in your body. Your body needs the right balance in every system to function at optimal level… more is not always better as it can lead to overloading the body -and too little of anything can lead to deficiencies.
