How is your digestive system working for you??

I am writing a report up for one of my Nutritional Therapy clients and thought I should share an example of one of many digestion symptoms that are related to hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid) and possible reasons why…
1. Sympathetic dominance
2. Antacid drug use
3. Excess sugar and refined foods
4. Chronic over eating
5. Constant snacking between meals
6. Excess carbohydrate and alcohol consumption
7. Nutrient deficiencies – especially zine and thiamin
8. H-pylori infection

Let me know if you want to help feeling better, moving better and looking better on the inside and out!
Instead of putting a band-aid on your symptoms, we work together to discover the root cause then create an individualized training and life plan that works for you! www.debbiepotts.net
We need to look at the root cause of our symptoms.
For example if you experience any of the following digestive/upper GI symptoms below:
  • bloating within one hour after eating
  • sense of excess fullness after meals
  • feel like skipping breakfast
  • feel better if you don’t eat
  • stomach pains or cramps

These symptoms are all signs for low HCL or pancreatic enzymes.  Also for those of us (most people!) who eat too much food too quickly (and not mindfully) and without proper chewing!  I am sure you know someone that inhales their food and finishes their plate before you get started!  I tell clients to stop, pause and take 3…take three long inhales into your belly and long exhales through your nose.  If you eat too quickly- your meal will be sitting in the digestive system longer and could be into the morning that you still haven’t digested your large meal.  Remember- digestion is a parasympathetic nervous system activity (rest and digest) so if you are rushing and multi-tasking when you are eating then you are most likely in the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and shutting off your digestion system anyways!

Low stomach acid, hypochlorhydria, leads to decreased protein digestion so the body will keep the protein food in the stomach (organ) longer which slows down digestion.  The stomach acid needs to be a pH level of 1.5-3.0 so if it is not acidic enough then the food can’t breakdown into liquid mush and enter the duodenum- the first part of the small intestine.

Perhaps you should find a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner to perform the functional evaluation and supplement testing (LNT) to find out which supplements and nutrients your body is missing.  We want to bring it back to homeostasis so once we discover some of the missing pieces to the puzzle, then we can put the body back together and feel amazing again!
