The struggle is REAL and I have lived through it. NOW I my purpose is to help you AVOID going through what happened to me since 2013. I went from a top performing athlete to someone struggling with fatigue, weight gain and burned out body systems.
I want you to just STOP blaming the aging process and accept how you feel now as your new “NORMAL”. You don’t have to struggle alone and be stuck in the cycle of “trial and error”.
Maybe you have searched for help from multiple doctors, practitioners and experts but they all tell your lab results are “normal” and give you a prescription or bag of supplements to treat your symptoms.
My passion, purpose and mission is to help ambitious, driven high performing individuals, who are doing everything “right”, get their body and vibrant self back again by investigating what is really going on by running specific functional lab tests and collecting clues to their missing pieces of the puzzle.
Since March 2020, all our lives have changed but perhaps for the better. Maybe you are finally forced to SLOW down and not race this year… or stop racing in the rat race of life! Do you sometimes wonder why things happen? What is the gift from this experience? What are the learning opportunities?
I feel that we are given a warning from above to start taking care of the WHOLE you from the inside out to prevent getting burned out and broken down- but to also improve our health, vitality and resiliency.
We are all moving through life at a fast pace- then you add athletic training and racing on top of a full life.
Are you doing too much each day? Are you packing your day too full?
I know the “New ME” is training each day but probably doing about 75% less exercise than I used to do before I realized what I was doing was breaking me down- and burning out every body system at the same time.

Recently an Instagram “friend” said I was an “endurance junkie”… and I laughed to myself.
I am running 30-45 minutes at a time 2 or sometimes 3 days a week then a “long” run on Sundays for about 1hr30.
The old me would have laughed at going for a 30-minute run! Now I love a 30-45 minute run… my body feels much healthier and happier when I do less.
Less is sometimes more!
Since it is summer right now, I ride more frequently with the sunshine, warmth and longer days -especially as we rent an AirBnb in the mountains in Northern San Dieog (cycling heaven). The old me would have gone for a weekday afternoon ride for 1h45-3 hours when I was training for Triathlons… and my weekend long ride would be 5 to 7 hours long.
Now we ride in the mornings, lunchtime or the evening dpeending on the weather (fog delay) for 1hr to 1hr30 minutes- which seems perfect as we have hills or more hills around our Airbnb. Efficiency is the key!
Plus I am training, as I always have, in my “MAF” heart rate zones then adding one speed run and one bike ride with tempo pieces (big hill climbs). We now do yoga, especially as the gyms are closed, on Mondays (power yoga with Travis Eliot) and yin yoga a few evenings at night.
Less is more. More is not always better.

The Goldilocks Effect
We are all unique individuals with different tipping points… how long can we do until we hit the wall and burn out? My “Beaker of Stress” seems to accumulate a lot faster than other individuals, so I always need to adjust and manage my stressors. Last year, I had a major set back as I had to decide to relocate my business or close it down… I choose to close my fitness studio and focus on building my health coaching business full time. I made the right decision but my stress level and emotions where on a roller coaster all last year! Now I unintentionally was prepared for the pandemic of 2020 starting in March as I was always starting to cut back on my personal training clients and focus on building my health coaching and fat loss programs.
Everything happens for a reason -right!?

Remember- the definition of Insanity is …“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
