Glutathione Supplements

What is Glutathione…according to Dr. Ben Lynch and the team at Seeking Health:

  1. It is our body’s most important antioxidant as it has so many different jobs to do.
  2. Glutathione helps your body eliminate heavy metals (such as arsenic and mercury), chemicals (like formaldehyde and chlorine), environmental toxins (like mycotoxins) and internally made compounds (like hydrogen peroxide).
  3. Many believe that by taking only the supplement, NAC, they can make glutathione. This isn’t true. There are various other genes and compounds involved.
  4. A major problem thinking that NAC alone is sufficient to make glutathione is that mycotoxins from mold greatly reduce your body’s ability to make glutathione.
  5. Even with plenty of NAC on board, your body will not convert that to glutathione in the presence of mold. Why? Because of dirty genes.
  6. In order for your body to produce glutathione, it must have sufficient cysteine, glycine, glutamine, magnesium and energy from ATP.
  7. Cysteine– the most important component of glutathione, is a sulfur compound which is found in cruciferous vegetables and eggs.
  8. If you don’t eat these foods, supplement with NAC.
  9. Glycine is used up heavily by methylation so it’s best to consume sufficient amounts in your diet from meat, fish, dairy and legumes.
  10. Glutamine is easily found in the diet and usually is in excessive amounts. The dietary sources of glutamine includes especially the protein-rich foods as beef, chicken, fish, dairy products, eggs, vegetables like beets, cabbage, spinach, carrots, parsley, vegetable juices and also in papaya, Brussels sprouts, celery, kale and fermented foods like miso.
  11. Poor Man’s Glutathione’ can be had from sprouting broccoli sprouts and radish sprouts together. Warning: these are going to smell up your house and taste very strong but definitely are nutritious! You can get these sprouts and sprouters from SproutPeople.org.
  12. Check out  Optimal Liposomal Glutathione Plus.
    • The backbone is glutathione protected inside a liposome designed to penetrate cell membranes and deliver the important package of glutathione right inside the cell.*
    • This formulation also has added riboflavin to support turning the damaged glutathione back into good glutathione, added selenium to support glutathione turning hydrogen peroxide into harmless water, added molybdenum to support reduction of sulfites naturally occurring from sulfur-based supplements and PQQ to help reduce oxidative stress and protect glutathione.*

Glutathione is an important antioxidant that is naturally found in every cell in the body, providing protection from free radicals and peroxides.

  • Within the body, glutathione is produced from three amino acids: L-cysteine, glycine and L-glutamic acid.
  • Glutathione is present in the body in two forms: reduced and oxidized.
  • The oxidized form can be recycled and converted back into the reduced form via important enzymatic reactions within the body.
  • Glutathione is also present in many dietary sources, though its amino acid precursors are more abundant in foods.
  • This antioxidant is essential in helping the body’s cellular defenses and immune system function at full capacity.*
  • In the body, glutathione acts as a cell protectant.
  • It may be involved in helping to maintain normal protein structures within the body, marking certain molecules for elimination as waste in the liver, and in important enzymatic reactions needed for neutralizing potentially damaging free radicals throughout the body.
  • It may support detoxification pathways and healthy functioning of the liver, kidneys, lungs, and intestinal tract.*

If you are already taking a quality multivitamin and multimineral, then you likely only need Optimal Liposomal Glutathione – without the other additional nutrients.

Suggested Usage:

  • Be sure to start with just a few drops of any of our liposomal glutathiones.
  • Hold the drops in your mouth for about 20 seconds, then swallow.
  • Chew gum or brush your teeth afterwards.
  • It’s best to use glutathione when you’re experiencing a foggy head or after exposure to chemicals like exhaust, chlorine or formaldehyde.
  • You should notice a clearer head pretty fast. If not, you may need more.
  • If you feel good after taking it, great.
  • Don’t take more until you get that foggy feeling again.
  • Do not take glutathione if you feel great as it can make you feel not so great.
  • Do take it before and after sauna, flying or driving in traffic.
  • If you work with chemicals, then you should take it daily along with Liver Nutrients.
  • If glutathione makes you feel worse, stop using it.
  • Start using
  • These will help your body prepare itself for glutathione.
  • Then retry using glutathione again but only use the Glutathione Plus forms and only do once a week or so.
  • These instructions are just suggestions.
  • Make sure to check with your health professional before adding any new supplement to your routine.
