As I was flying from Seattle to Orange Country for a work retreat – and the Natural Food Show (Expo West), my creative brain was on fire! Here are my thoughts…soak it up, get inspired and hopefully be impacted!
We should love life and love yourself Spring is coming and tis the season of cleaning out our “closets” but what about cleaning out our internal self- the food we eat, our lifestyle habits and the people in our life?
Spring is a time for renewal. Reboot. Rebuild. Renew. Reset.

Conventional wisdom messed us up now we need to figure out how to heal and rebuild from the inside out, what we eat and our lifestyle choices. We should not to settle for responses to our symptoms or pains “that way it is” and “this is a normal part of the aging process and getting older!”. Excuses.

We eliminate sugar addictions and cravings when past withdrawal stage. Start eating satiated foods that fuel your body and brain while reducing cravings by eating right for your metabolic type! We need to reduce need for medications and other ‘band-aids’. Treat the ROOT of the problem – not just treat the symptoms.
We are often told the opposite- eat low or non-fat manufactured food products and take medications. Instead of believing everything you read and are told– question the research or claims as well as who funded the study or where the study is published. Look at where did the info come from and not to accept at face value. Ask why!
We need to be more aware of the ‘anti-nutrient’ components to food. Gluten and grains can Irritate gut wall lining and colon. Get the best out of your foods you are eating. Take control and ownership for your body as well as your health and wellness. Most diseases and chronic conditions could have been eliminated if changed nutrition and lifestyle habits. We should eat foods that were alive …not with additives and preservatives plus synthetic vitamins.
The goal in Nutritional Therapy is to balance your blood sugar in order to avoid blood sugar spikes and insulin surges. Take the Carb challenge and count your daily total. What is your carb intake? Are you under 100g per day challenge including starchy foods and fruits? Stay below 100 grams per day of carbohydrates…100-150g danger zone and over 300g more means trouble is coming! Avoid insulin surges by eating more healthy fats, moderate protein and non-starchy vegetables.
Excess stored in liver and then stored as fat. Obesity and insulin resistance is an epidemic with our youth.
