Training and overtraining…
Do you listen to the signals your body gives you when to cut a workout short or go for a rest day?
Over the years, especially post stage three adrenal fatigue, I have learned to listen to the signals my body is telling me to take a rest day or an active recovery workout instead of slogging through a workout that is on my schedule. How often have you stuck with your scheduled workout when you didn’t feel great, low energy, sore muscles and mentally not present?
After recovering from exhausting my adrenals and everything else connected to the adrenals (liver, thyroid, gut and brain), I am more aware of the importance of performance gains via listening to your body. A workout is unproductive and ineffective if you are not moving right and performing with poor mechanics. Some days you are better off taking a nap and spending time on the foam roller.
Your next workout will be much more effective and productive especially if you are looking for performance gains.
Don’t be tied to your training peaks or coaches schedule…be flexible and trust your body (and mind!).
