Episode 49: Greg Krape has a conversation with Debbie about his weight loss

This week Debbie interviews one of her clients, Greg Krape about the changes he’s made to be able to lose 100 pounds.

Greg talks about the history of his weight issues and then discusses what he did in order to lose the weight.
The goal when he started was simply to lose just 40 pounds, and he points out that your initial goals need to be attainable so you can feel good about the process as you work through it. He didn’t start by saying to himself that he needed to lose 100 pounds.

Both he and Debbie also point out that it’s important to see weight loss as a result of lifestyle change rather than a “diet.” A diet is often a temporary thing. It is short-term and will often result in gaining the weight back. Making real weight loss happen will be a matter of changing the way you think, so that you will do the right things for your body.

Diets are also often regimented things, which will require a fanaticism that can be hard to maintain. You’ll soon be exhausted with counting and weighing, and it may be difficult to make it into a permanent change.

As a result of his weight loss, Greg is feeling more respect for himself, and he points out that it can be impossible to have respect for others unless you start by having respect for yourself. In his experience, losing weight has had mental, emotional and physical results.
