Gift yourself the gift of being Present this season

Yesterday is a History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, but Today is a gift. That is why it is called the Present.’

This quote is from the film ‘Kung Fu Panda’

I am getting more red flags in my own life each day as well as hearing stories from clients and observing people everyday… FOCUS people and be present in what you are doing at that moment.

Instead we are all stuck on checking our cell phones, posting on social media and working on the computer at the same time as eating.  We all need a reminder to focus on one thing and be in the moment.  Don’t worry about tomorrow …instead enjoy and celebrate what you are experiencing today!  Today is your gift of life you are given so celebrate.  There is no need to overanalyze the past and stress out about what is coming up next month.  Let the past go and be happy about today.

Last week I almost hit a car by not focusing on driving in my lane… no I wasn’t on my phone.  Then a few days later on Thanksgiving Day I missed the last step and twisted my ankle because I wasn’t focused on the last step and trying to make a phone call to the restaurant.  Now even as I am writing an article on FOCUSING …I find myself talking to people in my studio and getting distracted on other emails or projects that come to mind.

My challenge:  To much multi-tasking and distractions.

My goal:  To FOCUS.  Intention to focus and be present.

Solutions:

1.  When working on computer projects:  turn off other web pages and email.

2.  Write articles when alone and focused on only the one project at hand.

3.  To only use cell phone when not moving…or driving.

4.  To schedule time to review and answer messages (emails, voicemails and texts)

5.  Be present with the people I am with or the activity I am involved in… eliminate all other distractions.

6.  Do not use look at cell phone or messages first thing in the morning or once at home in the evening.  Quality time for myself in the mornings to start my day without stress or distractions then evening time is for my husband.

7.  Keep using gratitude journal each night before bed

8.  Set goals up for the next day in the evening or morning

9.  Easy one…always make the bed first thing

10.  Workout in the morning before starting day… ideally but usually with clients!

What can you do in your life to gift yourself being PRESENT this holiday season?

Give yourself this gift so you enjoy and live each day to its fullest and never have regrets. Let’s have the attitude of gratitude and to live with intention.

Now share your list with a family member or friend.  Take the challenge… and stay off your phone a little more every day.
