Is it possible to lose FAT weight on a CRUISE?
Well, when I told clients, friends and family that I was going on a LOW-CARB KETO CRUISE with Jimmy and Christine Moore for a week to speak at their conference- people laughed.
How does LOW CARB and CRUISE go together?
Well it is possible to eat low-carb, burn FAT and KETONES on a cruise ship.
How is that possible?
- Take ownership for your health.
- Remember how good you feel when you eat low-carb, high-fat real food.
- Remember how bad you you feel when you eat too much high-carb, high sugar, processed foods.
Here is what I did to help burn fat and lose fat on the cruise…
- Wake up and drink some water
- Room service so we had some green tea and coffee with cream available (a few sips are wonderful in the morning for me).
- Morning fasted workouts– 30 minutes with strength, treadmill intervals, core, mobility drills and more.
- Don’t take the elevator – we were on the 2nd floor so the gym, cafe and outdoor track/deck was on the 12th and 13th floor so we got our heart rate up (120-130 bpm) during the day as well as movement break when we were in our low-carb keto conference on the 2nd floor.
- Don’t eat until lunchtime! We skipped breakfast (coffee, water and tea) and waited for our lunch break around 12:30pm or 1pm to eat (varied if in the conference on the days we were at sea and days we were at port exploring).
- When eating- bring your will power and remember how sugar and processed foods impact the WHOLE you from the inside out. I get headaches immediately from sugar so I find it easier to avoid the baked goods- plus they didn’t look good to me anyways!
- To eat on the buffet (lunch time in the Windjammer), we selected vegetables, protein-meat and healthy fats without the sauces and creams. None of the food as the best quality- organic, grass-fed, or free-range so I am going to do a detox this week for my liver which had to work overtime!
- Move more during the day. Walk or run when at the ports. We were able to go for a hike/run one day near Coco Beach Florida then a long run in the hot and humid Miami! Plus the stairs up and down a few times a day helped!
- Dinner was scheduled for the 5:30pm seating (much better than the other 8pm seating!). We had a sit down dress-up dinner so we were taking our time talking, relaxing and enjoying the experience rather than rushing (PNS vs. SNS). The earlier meal also helped us avoid eating three hours before bed to help our body focus on detoxification and repair while we were sleeping instead of digestion!
- The dinner menu had options for the starter, main plate and dessert to keep low-carb, keto and even for the carnivores in our group! My dessert was the cheese plate – four pieces of cheese with walnuts.
- A few nights I would order one cocktails then make it into a mocktail for me is a vodka soda with muddled mint, lemon and lime (“Swipe Left”) then just drink sparkling water or club soda.
- Walk after dinner around the ship! Do some laps outside in the beautiful, healing magic ocean air (4th floor) then take the stairs up to the outdoor top deck to walk around and watch the scenery (12th floor).
