THE SECRETS OF FAT LOSS… By Debbie Potts (the making of a Superhuman Coach’s client handbook)

As I continue down the road towards becoming a “SUPERHUMAN COACH” with the guidance of Ben Greenfield, and co-hosting the “FIT FAT FAST” podcast with Jon Smith, I am becoming more aware of the need to educate others on the secrets of fat loss or becoming fat adapted.  It is much more than eating less sugar and exercising more with high intensity intervals.  How can you make that “shift” in your life?  Fat loss and being healthy is a whole body transformation… not just changing your food and adding exercise.

What is the definition of INSANITY? 

Doing the same thing over and over again and expected different results.

Take a moment and ask yourself these questions…write down your answers in a journal.

  • What are my health and fitness goals?
  • Am I struggling to lose weight and tired of diets?
  • Am I bored of exercise and lack motivation?
  • Do I need a new routine to stay motivated?
  • When is the last time I was on a “diet”?
  • What do I want to have happen in my life this year?
  • Do I visualize myself in ten years?

I will be sharing a few tips as I begin to lead “THE SECRETS OF FAT LOSS” seminars at local workplaces and groups.

Here are the basics…

SLEEP:  Do you get 7-8 hours of sleep per night?  Do you relax 1-2 hours before bed with dim lights and no electronic devices (TV’s, computers or phones)?

STRESS:  Do you take a few minutes in the morning to make a “Gratitude list” or intentions for the day?  Do you do any mind-body exercise each week as meditation, relaxation or yoga?

MOVEMENT:  Do you sit for longer than one hour at a time?  Do you use the Jawbone “UP” or “FITBIT” to monitor steps per day and idle time?

NUTRITION:  Do you start your day with a high carb sugary meal?  How much water do you drink per day? Do you eat food that comes from a box or with a label?  Do you have headaches during the day?  Do you have mood swings?

EXERCISE:  Do you do 30 minutes of exercise per day?  Are you doing 2-3 interval training workouts per week?  Have you ever trained for a fun event as a 5k walk or sprint triathlon?  Are you taking time out of the day for yourself to exercise solo or with a group?  How is your flexibility?

SELF-CARE:  when is the last time you had a massage?  Accupuncture?  Have you ever taken a “mental health” day and spent time by yourself or a loved one to play outside or go on a new adventure?  When is the last time you did a new activity or adventure?
