As I get older and become more wise and observant, I notice we all seem to have fear is that we may not be aware of. Do you know what fears you may have? Are you running from something? I see clients and friends, and in myself some times, that we need to seek approval of others. Why is that? Why do we need to impress other people or seek approval to feel good inside?
When people work out and train for races are they training for impressing others or trying to satisfy something at a deeper level? We race because we love it and it makes us feel amazing? Or are we doing it to impress others without realizing it.
Since I have raced triathlons, cycling events and marathons starting almost 20 years ago I have become more aware of observing and learning what is the “why” … Why do you do races? I personally love training and racing is a reward and also a goal to work towards.
Right now I am just enjoying exercising for fun and letting it be my inner peace personal time. My joy and happy Debbie time. As Mark Allen recently said in one of my podcasts, the “right length of a workout should be when your attitude changes and then you’ve worked out long enough. ”
Ask the question why you work out or race? Are you the type of person that needs approval of others to feel satisfied and happy about yourself? Or is there something else going on? Do you have a fear of not being good enough? Do you need to feel that you’re the best in everything that you do? But what if you’re not… What will happen?
What are you afraid of? What are your biggest fears in your life? Why do we need to seek approval of others to feel amazing?
