Episode #27: How to be your own health coach with Ronda Collier

Debbie talks in this episode with Sweetwater health CEO Ronda Collier again but this time we go more into how you can become your own health coach daily with the Sweetbeat Life app on your mobile device.

To provide individuals with the tools to be their own health advocate… to take your health into your own hands and own your health.

Personalized health and medicine is increasingly important as stress levels increase with our busy lifestyles.  STRESS is the weak link in the chain… stress is responsible for more than 90% of diseases.  The brain is a giant pattern matcher and the brain filters out what is familiar over time.  The Sweet Beat app measures your stress… your fight or flight response which is your nervous system.

You can use a Bluetooth heart rate monitor with the app Sweet Beat Life app to detect chronic stress where the brain is a pattern matcher and filters out what is stress.  Do you know when you are stressed or are you aware of how you react to stress?

The Sweet Beat Life app allows you to be your own health adovocate and guide yourself as it measures your stress response- the autonomic nervous system = sympathetic and parasympathic branches.  The “fight or flight response” vs. the “rest and repair” response.

Heart Rate Variability- measures the variation of your heart beat.  When you get stressed, your heart rate increases and when you relax the heart rate decreases.  By looking at the pattern of the heart beat, you can see how much fight or flight you have going on in your life/body versus rest and repair.

Vegas nerve is responsible for the variation of the heart beat.  If you train too hard or overstressed, the heart rate variability or stress can be measured.  You can test the stress on your vagel tone or the nervous system every morning for three minutes.  This is a great way to get a view into your fight or flight response… which you can find the ratio or the balance of the nervous system (‘fight or flight” response versus “rest or repair” system).

Sweet beat life gives you so much more information than only your heart rate variability (HRV) including your correlations to other apps to give you meaningful information from all the data you have been collecting or tracking.

When you are training for an event or race, you can use the feedback from your Sweet Beat Life measurements to help you train smart, perform better and lose fat weight.

Get some insight on your health especially if you are training for a race or leading a overscheduled stressed life!

Not one size fits all… download the app on your phone from iTunes:  Sweet Beat Life and find more on www.sweetwaterhrv.com
