Which Oils to Use for Cooking | DebbiePotts.netMy clients are always asking which oils to use for cooking and most people seems to use olive oil for high heat cooking which isn’t a good choice!

So which oils are best to use at which heat?

Less than 350′: no to low heat for dressings, sauces and dips

  • olive oil
  • flax oil
  • hemp oil
  • pumpkin seed oil
  • walnut oil

Less than 400′: medium heat for sautee, baking and roasting

  • coconut oil
  • grass-fed butter
  • animal fat as lard, tallow or bacon from good clean (non-factory) source animal

Less than 450′: medium-high heat for frying and stir fry

  • grass-fed ghee (clarified butter)
  • sesame oil
  • duck fat

Less than 500′: high heat for deep frying and searing

  • avocado oil
  • red palm oil
