Mitochondria Function Part One of many…

Mitochondria Function Part One of many…

What is mitochondrial dysfunction?

  1. Mitochondrial Disease according to the Cleveland Clinic = “mitochondrial dysfunction occurs when the mitochondria do not work as well as they should due to another disease of condition”
  2.  Dr. Myhil’s view –chronic fatigue syndrome is characterized by cellular metabolic mitochondrial dysfunction and has published serval studies and treated an excess of 10,000 CFS sufferers.
  3. Ari Whitten of The Energy Blueprint focuses on sharing research and proof the “Adrenal Fatigue” doesn’t exist and it is our mitochondria that are damaged.  Mitochondrial dysfunction
  4. Michael Chang-

Symptoms of Mitochondrial Dysfunction include similar complaints of all major chronic diseases besides the obvious FATIGUE issue:

  • Brain fog
  • Mood disordered
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Lack of focus
  • Performance in workouts and races!

Mito-Q shares research and details on their website-

Dr. Sarah Myhill is a top researcher on mitochondria function and chronic fatigue.

In my Kion Coaching program with Ben Greenfield, we discussed tricks to improve our performance and longevity – which included discussing mitochondria function.

Go figure- performance and longevity are influenced by our mitochondria function- the energy production cells.

DR. SARAH MYHILL’S MITOCHONDRIAL STACK…according to Ben Greenfield in our Kion Coaching program.

What It Is

Dr. Sarah Myhill is one of the world’s leading medical practitioners for the management of chronic fatigue. She has published several studies showing that fatigue is primarily characterized by cellular metabolic mitochondrial dysfunction, and has treated over 10,000 chronic-fatigue-syndrome sufferers over her 30-year career.

Dr. Myhill uses a mitochondrial “stack” that includes many of the compounds listed in this guide, along with several others she has researched and found to be efficacious for her patients.

How It Works

When combined with Dr. Myhill’s recommendations for high amounts of sunshine, good water, and minerals, this stack addresses a multitude of mitochondrial functions.

Because of the comprehensiveness of the stack, I will list just a few of the processes that it impacts:

● The B vitamins play an essential role in NADH production, fatty acid oxidation, the citric acid cycle, antioxidant activity and the proper function of the respiratory chain that occurs in mitochondria.

● Omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA are incorporated into the mitochondrial membranes and thereby improve the bioenergetics and function of mitochondria as well as improve the removal of reactive oxygen species.

● Magnesium improves the usage of mitochondrial energy, as ATP, once produced, binds to magnesium ions to create a biologically functional form.

Calcium uptake into mitochondria helps to delay cell death. If you want to learn more about the mechanisms behind Dr. Myhill’s stack, be sure to

How to Use It… In the morning,

  • Take a supplement or multivitamin that contains a full vitamin-B complex, a methylated form of folate, inositol, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, biotin, zinc, manganese, chromium, iodine, selenium, molybdenum, magnesium, calcium, and potassium.
  • Ben G likes the Thorne Multi-Vitamin Elite and Dr. Myhill recommends a multi from BioCare.
  • Follow this up with at least one serving of essential fatty acids from fish or hemp oil
  • Use sea salt liberally throughout the day
  • Wrap it up with 2 to 4 g of Vitamin C in the evening.
